Charity Outreach

 

It's her special day, but she's the one who gives!

CharityWinsome Benjamin's birthday is October 26, but instead of waiting to receive gifts, she is the one who gives through her Charity Outreach organization.

Ms. Benjamin was born in rural Clarendon and spent much of her early life there. Since her return from Germany in 2000, she has been taking packages of food, a mini health fair and a concert to Johnnies Hill, Arthur's Seat, Colonel's Ridge, Top Hill, Brandon Hill and neighbouring communities in the hills of her parish, for a day of celebration of the gift of life.

"Seeing the condition of the young in the community, the situation touched me greatly, because I had been through it. It was hard for me growing up there and at times I wished that someone would come and help me."


 

At one point, Ms. Benjamin received assistance from a U.S. based Christian outreach ministry group, World Alive, as well as from friends and a number of companies in Jamaica.

"I have always wished that people who successfully make it out of the area would come back and help. Even once! That's why I had to come back and do something for these people, no matter how small. The day is possible because of the kindness of my many sponsors.
